Drive for
Places
for People. Places for People was founded in 1972 with a mission to provide
caring, effective services to help those with the greatest challenges recover
from mental illness and associated chronic illnesses.
Places for People uses “pocket foods” as part of its outreach effort to people
who are homeless and have a serious and persistent mental illness. By offering
tangible items like pocket foods, community support workers help to build
rapport with individuals who may be fearful of mental health providers.
You can drop off your pocket-food donations during the month of October at the
Blue Element Salon. Examples of pocket foods include:
Granola or snack bars / Prepackaged cereals / Bottled water / Gatorade / Food
with “pop-top” lids / Food that needs only hot water added / Snack crackers /
Fruit cups / Packages of peanuts / Jerky
Places for People is also the recipient of our October product sales donation
drive. $2 from each shampoo/conditioner set sold in the month of October will be
donated to Places for People to assist in their outreach efforts.
